Life in Saint Petersburg

Known as the "Venice of the North" because of its many canals, St. Petersburg is Russia's historic gateway to the West and is one of Europe's most beautiful cities. It offers a great variety of museums, theaters, music, performances, sports, and other cultural events.
As in the early years of the 20th century, St. Petersburg is again becoming a center for Russia's new alternative culture. It hosts an array of engaging venues for theater, pop music, poetry, literature, classical and experimental dance, and the visual arts.
